Sedgefield Community College was last inspected in June 2026. Having previously been judged to be an ‘Outstanding’ school (in all possible categories), this was the school’s first inspection under the new inspection framework with a different set of judgements.

During the June 2026 inspection, we were judged in six different areas and for each of these, SCC was deemed to be ‘Strong’. According to Ofsted, this means that the school is, ‘working above the standard expected’ in each of these areas. For schools to receive no judgements that are less than ‘Strong’ is very rare and we were delighted that the inspection team recognised the many strengths of SCC, as reflected in the comments below:

“The school environment is highly conducive to learning. It is calm and purposeful. Pupils respond incredibly well to clear behaviour systems…”

  • “Leaders and staff know their pupils incredibly well. Pupils are well cared for and know where to go if they need some extra help.”
  • “Pupils leave as confident and independent young people who know what they need to do to realise their ambitions.”
